This past Tuesday in our Bible Institute, Edmundo, one of our young preachers, told me about Sebastian, a man who was from his hometown in Guatemala He felt Sebastian was close to coming to Christ but that he had some special issues that he needed to speak to me about. We set a time to speak to him the next day.
Edmundo called early before church on Wednesday. “Where are you pastor?” I told him I was already in the church building and he said he was on his way. In five minutes he and Sebastan entered and we went into a class room. Sebastian told me his story. Back home his oldest son had some real bad problems. His wife had called him crying about a younger son that needed help too. Sebastian was at the end of his rope. His family was in danger. He felt helpless. He didn’t know what to do, he was trying to pray but felt God couldn’t hear him. What could save him from these burdens? He had tears of frustration and fear in his eyes. He was looking for answers, for help, for counsel. Edmundo had done a good job witnessing to him. Sebastian knew he was a hopeless sinner. He knew Christ had died for him. He knew he could not save himself. He was ready to get on his knees and call upon the Savior. I prayed with him and he in his own words confessed his trust in Christ and called out for salvation right there before church started.
Later after I had preached Sebastian came forward to give a public testimony and tell us how through Edmundo’s testimony, the church’s ministry, the grace of God and the sacrifice of Christ he had been gloriously saved! Pray for Sebatian and the salvation of his family.
