We just got back last night from Haiti. We had a BUSY week preaching to preachers. Pastor Predestin Pierre- Herard, president of the AEEBH or Association of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Haiti and about 150 others gathered at the Christianville Camp in Gressier, Haiti for this nearly week-long Pastor’s School / Conference. The theme for the week was “I will build my church”. Pastor Bob Cote from Adam’s Square Baptist Church in Worcester, Massachusetts, my son Ransom, my wife and I conducted all of the 12 hours of seminars, several workshops, 4 early morning devotions and 3 evening chapels.
We gave Ransom the 6 AM devotional hours. It was always well attended (nearly 100%) even at that early hour. I told him since he was the youngest, he drew the short straw for that early slot. (I attended them too.) Ransom did a wonderful job preaching each morning on the need for prayer in our lives. Actually I was very proud of the job Ransom did in all his preaching. He preached another extremely well received series in the seminars. His youth, zeal, and freshness really helped him connect well with the Haitians. Many of them are young men just starting out in the ministry and few have ever received much training.
Pastor Cote preached and taught on prayer, biblical preaching and evangelism. His messages were impacting and really well received by the crowd. His church planting experience in New England prepared and well qualified him for the help he was able to give the pastors in Haiti. This was Pastor Cote’s seventh trip to Haiti, his first since 2002. He and his church have a great burden and passion for the Haitians. They have a family (Pierre and Sharon Daniel) that has been sent out from their church to this needy country and his help on this trip was invaluable to our Baptist Evangelism team.
Frances, well she took care of the pastor’s wives. She taught about 12 hours of lessons to these women and answered their questions helping them and encouraging them with her 30 plus years in the ministry. Her themes for the ladies were interesting and they left the camp rejoicing.
We are thankful to be back to the good ole USA and back home for a few days. Ransom had to leave immediately to return to Crown College for his sophomore year of missions studies. He traveled over 10,000 miles this summer promoting Project North Africa’s mission agenda, raising awareness for the missionaries needs and the opportunities for working in north Africa. Pray for him as he carries a full class schedule and works a job to pay his way through college.
