Visiting Xejuyup

By Ron Maggard

Xejuyup is one of the many towns you can find scattered throughout the mountains of central Guatemala. It has little importance to most, but to us it is very important. Last July we opened a new mission work here. Brother Salomon Gomez with his wife Arsenia moved here from Barrillos, 12 hours to the north. They are national missionaries here, looked upon as outsiders and trying to learn the difficult Quiche language. They work the mission on a day to day basis. They are supported solely by our Spanish language church, Iglesia Bautista Faro de Luz, in Jupiter, FL. They struggle each day to meet new people. They are doing an outstanding children’s ministry and meeting many new families in this way. They meet in their home and when it gets a little crowded the neighbor allows them to use a covered patio next door. Pray for them as they try to make an impact on Xejuyup for Christ!
